Monetize Your Blog Part 1 - Make Money Online - Google AdSense and Your Blog

by [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_D_Hawthorne]Michael D Hawthorne

Blogging - The New International Pastime. Blogging was almost unheard of just 10 years ago. Today, more and more people are running blogs about every topic imaginable! Some people are doing it to feed a passion - blogging about their hobby or their collection or their dog or their grandchildren or their favorite song/band/celebrity/movie/television program. For other people, it's their job - political bloggers, news bloggers, gossip bloggers, etc. And for some people, they see it as a way to make some money. Anything that brings large numbers of people together is a great place to advertise. Advertise what? Advertise How? Good questions! As a blogger, one of the biggest decisions you will make will be whether to monetize your blog and if so, how.

How do you make your blog make you money? How do you monetize your blog? There are several established options you can choose from, or choose them all. Whichever approach you take, you want to be relevant to the topic of the blog and don't overwhelm your readers with ads. How do you feel when you go to a blog and are besieged with pop-ups and video ads, or there's so many text ads that you can't find the articles? Chances are others feel that way too.

Okay, so you've answered the "Whether", now let's talk about the "How"...

AdSense by Google

AdSense may be the easiest way to monetize your blog, but the toughest to get results with. All you have to do is sign up on Google's website and get a Publisher-ID. Then you decide which ad format you want for your blog and Google will generate a special super-duper-ultra-secret unique code just for you that you place in your blog template and abracadabra, you have Google ads on your blog! At first, the ads may be pretty random, but they will soon be ads specifically targeted to the topic of your blog, so they will be of interest to your readers. That's the easy part.

The tough part is that you make money only when someone clicks one of the ads. They don't even need to make a purchase, just a click makes you money. You make a portion of what the person who placed the ad is paying Google. Some ads are only worth a few cents per click, others can be worth much more. The trick is to find the expensive ads, but that's getting into keyword research - a little off-topic here. (Hint: Keyword Research should ideally be done before you choose the topic of your blog, if your purpose is to make money with it.)

The final factor for finding success with AdSense is ad format and placement. You'll just have to play around with this to find what's most profitable for your blog. Once you find the right combination, you can set it and forget it. AdSense can be a great passive income stream, especially if your blog is kept current and relevant.

It's a scary time to be a working person, relying on your employer's success to be able to feed yourself and your family. Times are tough, money is tight, businesses are going under. What if yours is next? What are you going to do if that Friday comes that you have to go home knowing there's no job to return to on Monday? These days it's not so much an "If?" but a "When?"

It's never too late to start working on a Plan B, but it's better to start before you need it. Are you ready to learn more about Affiliate Marketing? Maybe it could help you make some money online? Maybe it can help you make a lot of money online?

Establishing Your Blog to Make Money Online

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Terry_Philpott]Terry Philpott

In order to make money online by blogging there are two schools of thought as to when the best time is to monetize the blog. On the one hand you could immediately start to market to your readers upon launch. Now this makes sense since earning an online income is why you've started the blog to begin with. On the other hand there are those who feel it is best to first establish a reader base before introducing any type of online marketing techniques.

On the surface it would seem pretty obvious as to what approach to take if earning an online income is the objective behind your blogging.

Well even though managing a blog over a period of time without the intent to make money seems a little strange it does pose some interesting advantages.

Let's have a look at 3 compelling reasons it would be to your advantage to DELAY monetizing your blog:

EASIER TO CREATE 'COMMUNITY'

The very basis behind blog popularity is the ability to interact with other visitors and the site owner WITHOUT the distractions of online advertising. Freedom from sales pitches and the opportunity to contribute concerning content of interest to the reader is what most visitors expect at a blog.

Online advertising of any kind will hinder that 'cozy' and 'protected' feeling visitors are expecting from a blog. As a result it may slow the growth of blog readership since many may not feel as comfortable with these distractions.

EASIER to DEVELOP LOYALTY

With good content and the implementation of effective online marketing techniques to attract traffic most blogs can expect to grow quickly. The interaction of both readers and the site owner through blog comments left and also responded to a certain degree of familiarity develops. This spawns a feeling of camaraderie and loyalty between and amongst all participants. This loyalty then results in readers returning and in fact with their continued participation they in effect are helping to build and improve the blog.

At this point the feeling of community is in full bloom and continues to feed upon itself to grow the blog even more. Now you have greater participation, more input, and even referrals from the existing subscription base are arriving. It is of utmost importance that the site owner continues to take advantage of blog comments left and act upon them to improve the blog. These comments are the readers telling you what they want; all you need to do is respond.

ENHANCES FUTURE MARKETING EFFORTS

This communal feeling and the loyalty that now exist has given the blog owner tremendous momentum upon which to launch a money making blog. Readership resistance to any marketing attempts will be minimized due to the trust that has developed. In fact sales conversions should be very high as also should be profits.

Blog marketing relies upon the trust and familiarity that the blogging community is noted for. A blog not monetized will generally gain a greater and more immediate acceptance amongst visitors thereby leading to a faster growth rate.

To make money online it will always involves a certain amount of trust from your customers. In order for them to respond positively to any online marketing efforts they'll need to believe in either you or the product. By not monetizing your blog from the outset you should be able to develop this trust quicker. This will in turn lead to greater sales with less effort in the future.

How to Build Your Money Blog

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Liam_Smith]Liam Smith

With the growth of the World Wide Web, blogging has given a platform and a voice to those of us who may not have had one previously. Blogging will help you get your message out to the public, and you can make money blogging as well.

If you would like to know how to start a blog, here is what you do. Simply do a blog search, and when you find a blog style you like, the homepage will have a link that you can follow to create a blog. After you fill out a short online form, you are on your way to becoming a blogger!

A common beginner blogging mistake is thinking that once you create a blog, viewers and money will start rolling in. Before you learn to blog for money, you should know how to build your blog. The most important thing you can do is post original quality content. When you post your content, always use the spell checker. Proper grammar and spelling will give your blog a more professional look. For more information, do a keyword search for "beginner blogging course" and "beginner blogger products."

Now that you know how to blog, you will need to get some readers. The best way to do this is to visit other blogs, and post quality comments on them. The authors and readers of the other blogs will see your comments, and they may visit your blog and post a few comments themselves. Posting on message boards and forums are also a way to advertise your blog. When you do this, search out message boards that share a common interest with your blog, and offer a link. (If you visit a blog about stamp collecting, and you post a link to a blog post about how to grow tomatoes, you might get banned for spamming.)

Building a good-sized readership is important if you are going to build blogs for money. The more readers you have, the more money you can make. There are many paths to becoming a big time money blogger. One way you can make money with your blog is by using contextual ads. Contextual ads scan your post for content, and automatically put up links to products they think your readers might be interested in. When a reader clicks the ad, you make money. The amount of money ranges from a few cents to a few dollars, but these can build up after time. Contextual ad companies have the blog tools and blog software you need to maximize profits.

A more profitable way to make money blogging is to join a network that will give you access to advertisers who will pay you to post about their products. The more popular your blog is, the more money advertisers are willing to pay you for your posts. (I've seen some that pay as much as $75 dollars for a 200-word post!) If you go this route, remember that you must still post non-advertisement quality content on your blog, and you must continue to advertise your blog for maximum profits.

Now that you know how to build a better blog, and how to make money blogging, the rest is up to you. There is no magic formula that will help you make tons of money overnight, like everything else in life; you will need to work at it. But take my word for it, blogging can be very rewarding.

Discover How to Support Charities with Blogger, Blogspot, Feedburner, and Squidoo

Making money online is a different ball game with Squidoo.
That's because raising money for charity is a big part of
the game. That's the way the creator of Squidoo, Seth
Godin, wants it, and that's the way I like it.

What is usually called a blog elsewhere, is called a
lens on Squidoo. As someone who builds a lens on Squidoo,
you have the chance to make money for yourself, and,
at the same time, make money for charity. You can select
an indivdual charity, or go with the default selection,
which is all of the currently listed charities. Or, you
can choose to keep all of your earnings yourself.

Nonprofit organizations and charities can use a lens to
draw attention to their main sites, blogs, and lenses. A
lens may include links, RSS feeds, and references to other
blogs, websites, or lenses.

Each lens will have Google adwords/adsense ads placed on it.
Every lens on the entirety of Squidoo.com gets a share of
the royalties earned from the Google ads. Another way to
earn money with Squidoo is to sell items as an associate
of Amazon, or as an affiliate of eBay.

If you want to get a clearer picture of what can be
accomplished with Squidoo lenses - why not spend some
time at Squidoo.com and see some of the top ranked lenses.
It's very inspirational stuff!

In order to aid and abet your charity efforts on Squidoo
place Feedburner feeds and headlines on your Google
Blogger blogs and on your Squidoo lenses. The Feedburner
promotional gadgets and widgets help visitors to sites,
blogs, and lenses to find what they are looking for faster
and easier, and, they provide a means to forward
information to others. You're spreading the win-win wealth all
around. The possibilities with Google Blogspot Blogs, Squidoo
lenses, and Feedburner promotional enhancements are awesome.

Make Money As a Blogger- How to Attract Prosperity and Grow a Money Tree!

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jodie_Hecker]Jodie Hecker

9 ways to attract prosperity with blogging

1. Be clear about what you want

What would your life look like if you had all that you wanted? Sometimes when you are trying to Make Money As a Blogger, in the midst of struggling with what we DON'T want in our life, we forget to ask this question.

2. Listen to your "Inner Wealth Guide"

Pay attention to what your intuition is telling you and act on its wisdom. Intuition is "when you know something, but you don't know how you know it." Intuition provides quick and ready insight. It may come to you through a feeling, an emotion, a sixth sense, an inner voice to take a certain direction to direct an action in your life. It may lead you to new work, the right contacts for your business, or a book to read that opens a door to greater prosperity.

3. Use positive wealth statements

Clarify and write down your goals, visions and dreams. Write a short positive statement that sums up your income goals. Here are two examples: "I easily attract $_______ a month/year." "Money flows easily into my life as I do what I love." Say the affirmative statement several times a day.

4. Visualize your goal

Imagine what it would be like to achieve your goals. Are there one or two "snapshots" you can create in your mind of having the wealth you desire?

5. Take action

Procrastination kills all dreams. Do it NOW, and feel rewarded today. Making any change in your life often feels uncomfortable at first. Continue to take action. Small steps count. Put the energy to create new things in your life out into the world. Even the smallest of steps, like writing down in a journal the 3 simple things I will do today, will move mountains for you. The Universe will respond!

6. Pay attention to your thoughts

Listen to what you tell yourself about your life situation. Pay special attention to your beliefs about money. If you find you have pessimistic or negative beliefs about money ask yourself, "What's another way of thinking about this?" or "What do I want to create in my life?" Would you rather be right or would you rather be happy?

7. Understand that life has ebbs and flows

Life doesn't always go in a straight line even when you're doing everything "right." Just as nature has seasons, cycles, ebbs and flows, so does your life. Learn to recognize and optimize them. There may be a time for action, networking, promoting, taking classes, giving talks, creating business. There may also be a period of time when you just sit back and relax. Day dreaming, writing in your journal or meditating are all great ways to do this. All of these times have a gift in them for helping you create the life you chose.

8. Let go of the negatives

Negative people and situations can hold us back, bring us down and immobilize us. Is there a client that takes too much of your energy for the money you receive? Is there so much clutter in your life that it's difficult to organize yourself to do your best? If you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.

9. Pay attention to what you feel passionate about

What's fun for you? What do you feel excited about? These are some of the ways your intuition informs you about your purpose in life. Can't figure out how to make a living out of it? I've found that when you start taking steps towards your passion in life, the Universe opens doors you never imagined

Remember: To Make Money As a Blogger, you must believe in yourself, and stay passionate with what you want.

Just remember... There are plenty of opportunities going to others. Don't YOU want them to also come to YOU?

"Blogger In Learning"- Jodie Hecker: What can I say. Blogging is an ongoing learning experience. One that I will never stop. Once you learn how to blog, the rules either change, grow, or extend themselves into the universe. Get the basic tools, and never stop learning. I know I wont.

Want to learn more about blogging? I invite you to stop by my blog: http://www.hotandsexywealth.com

GOOD LUCK, and KEEP ON BLOGGING!

Why Aligning Your Business With Charity is Important

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jane_Greece]Jane Greece

It is true that in a business, big or small, nothing transpires unless a sale is made. This is why marketing plays such a big role in business. Consequently, if in a day you’re not doing anything to promote and market your business, it’s doomsday for you and a lucky day for your competitors. Thus, in any types of business, marketing should be implemented.

As a business owner, you can rely on different types of marketing strategies. You can partner with other businesses so your ads appear in their websites. You can also ask satisfied customers for testimonials so you can make it visible for everyone to read in your website or your brochure. Moreover, you can align your business with charity and give back to the community.

Aligning your business with charity can be a little difficult to understand. In fact, you might fight the deed preposterous and absurd as you examine other companies doing so. You’d come to ask,” Why assign one of your teams to go to remote villages in Africa to donate clean water? Why make such strong effort?” And then finally you’d ask, “What’s in it for me?” Questions like these are normal to ponder on especially if you’re not looking at the big picture.

Companies who have aligned with charities are seeing the big picture. They see long series of business benefits in doing the charitable projects even in developed and underdeveloped countries. This is what they call as, “strategic philanthropy.” It is said to be strategic for doing charity improves the image of their companies not only in the countries being helped but also in the home country and its consumers. Let alone it can boost the morale of the current employees and future recruits. Most importantly, aligning business with charity, lays the foundation of future markets. People will come to associate the business as the “good guy.” This matters a lot to some people. If good works matter to them, good sales follow.

Thus, aligning your business with charity or cause can do a lot of great things to you and that’s what makes it important. Doing this type of strategic marketing can first, add another element to your business’ character. Second, aligning business with charity can attract positive publicity to your business. Who wouldn’t want good publicity? Third, strategic philanthropy can elicit new ideas to improve or enhance your products and services. With the exposure you’d be getting, comments and suggestions coming from people in all walks of life would be available for your study. And fourth, doing charity would give more meaning to you and your business. Nothing beats the feeling of feeling good.

To conclude, aligning your business with charity is being wise with business and being responsible, socially. However, don’t forget to warn yourself not to join the strategic philanthropy bandwagon if you’re not feeling any good at all. Remember, if it doesn’t feel good then it’s probably a sacrifice. It’s really up to you how you build your business. If you wish to expand your business through marketing and want to help and transform the world altogether, then aligning your business with charity is the best track for you to follow.

How To Find Adsense Blogger Software That Turns Free Blogging Into Thousands Of Dollars

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christopher_Kyalo]Christopher Kyalo

Does the word "software" bore you to tears, even when it is software that has to do with Adsense and blogger? The sort of software that can put thousands of dollars into your Adsense and Paypal accounts in the next couple of hours?

Well, I have a confession to make. Not too long ago I was exactly like that. But my advice is that you do what I did. Make a great big effort to stay wide awake for the next few minutes to read through this article and chances are that your life will never be the same again. Or yawn and hit the "back" button and continue with your futile struggle to try and make some serious money from your online business.

You are much luckier than I was. You don't have to wade through dozens of articles written by geeks (some of it in technical geek language). You have everything you will ever need to know about Adsense blogger software and software that can make you a fortune in one easy to read article.

Why should you sit up and pay a lot of attention at the mention of Adsense blogger software, even if that is not exactly what you are looking for at the moment? The answer should be obvious and is best illustrated by the simple truth that after all the dust settled around the computer and personal computer invention geniuses, the fortunes went to Bill Gates, the software guy.

Not to Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs the two kids who changed the world forever in a small garage when they invented the first amazing personal computer, which they called Apple. Incidentally it is Apple computers who also invented the incredible mouse that made it possible for the first time to use a computer without having to memorize or write down the numerous complex commands that were required to get anything done. The mouse made it possible for the first time to simply point at an icon and click. Well into the Internet age we are still clicking away at everything. Yes, I know you take it all for granted and even if you were around in the 1980s, like I was, to see it all unfolding before your eyes, you still take this major convenience for granted.

Neither did the fortunes go to the dozens of other heroic geniuses whose amazing breakthroughs ushered in the amazing information age in which we now live in.

The fortunes all went to boring software. What does that mean?

It means that it is software that changed everything. And even today, software still changes everything. Let me explain.

How does a one-man small operation like yours compete with a well-financed online business with dozens of staff? The answer is software. A few smart online entrepreneurs have discovered this secret and their lives have never been the same again.

Why Blogger Software?

Good question. I'll answer it by asking two question of my own. Which is by far the most popular search engine on earth? Who owns Blogger.com? The answer to those two questions is Google. This means that you can say all you want to say about how horrible blogger is for creating blogs and you can join the popular school of thought that says blogger is yesterday's news. But that will not change the fact that the Google search engine finds it easier to index blogger blogs and posts faster and they usually end up quite high in search results. Not to mention the blogger search which is rising rapidly in popularity all the time.

So if you were able to find software that helps you quickly create quality blogger blogs. Software that is specifically designed with blogger in mind and which therefore guarantees that your blogs won't get flagged on suspicion of being spam blogs or splogs and get deleted or blocked. If you can ever find such software then it means you'll already be halfway to the bank.

Does such software exist? You bet it does, just read on and get the details.

Blogger Adsense Software Means Automating Functions That Will Rapidly Increase Traffic Software means that stuff that you were previously doing manually is suddenly automated. Automating means blinding speed. Remember that most of the key functions in a blog have a direct bearing on traffic. For instance the more keyword rich, optimized pages your blog has, the more traffic you will have. It is as simple as that. Does software deal with the issue of the right keywords and optimizing pages for search engines? The answer is yes.

Conclusion

History is supposed to teach us so that we do not repeat the same mistakes that were done by those who came before us. Unfortunately, this hardly happens mos of the time and the human race keeps on repeating the same mistakes.

In the personal computers era the fortunes went in the direction of software. Go ahead and do all your stuff manually and no matter how brilliant a genius you are, rest assured that the fortunes in this Internet age are still headed in exactly the same direction. It is in the direction of software. And that is why numerous smart entrepreneurs are already making significant incomes online from Adsense, using blogger and the right software.

Visit the writer's [http://webcontentprovider.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-find-adsense-blogger-software.html]Adsense Software blogger blog to view a selection of the best blogger software available today that has already helped so many bloggers suddenly start earning thousands of dollars from blogging.

Why Google Friend Connect is a Must For Bloggers

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Brian_Schwartz]Brian Schwartz

Usually when Google Friend Connect is mentioned, most people assume it is used exclusively with websites. This is not completely accurate as the Google Friend Connect widget can often prove very helpful to blogs. Namely, the widget can greatly expand a blog's readership potential.

Blogging is incredibly popular as evidenced by the multitude of blogs proliferating on the internet. Many blogs have large audiences and, in most cases, readers are allowed to comment on the entries in the blog. While this is a decent method of interaction between the Google Friend Connect blogger and the readers, it is also quite limited. Simply commenting on the blogs does not always stimulate excitement. Additionally, due to the design of the average blog, comments have a tendency to drop down the page and out of sight. If they are out of site then the comments probably will do little for increasing interest in the blog. That is why Google Friend Connect can provide a mega boost to a blog.

Google Friend Connect is a free system that can add social networking functions to a blog. Simply cutting and pasting a widget code onto the blog will have you in business in a short period of time. Once the widget is in place, readers can create profiles, create their own friends list, and communicate with one another. All of these tactics can work wonders for making a blog popular and lively. Now, some may think this is not necessary for a blog's success but it has a potentially huge benefit. If a blog becomes ground zero for a huge social network, the blogger can reap a number of rewards. Namely, the blogger might become very well known and popular while also greatly increasing potential revenue streams.

This inclusion of social network function into blogs is a huge leap forward from bloggings early days. Originally, blogs started out rather innocuously. The early "weblogs" centered almost exclusively on computer information and technology related subjects. In time, these subjects would expand to include a multitude of subjects. With the great variety of subjects, more and more readers became attracted to blogs. Eventually, the readership of blog rose into the hundreds of millions. This took the traditional media by surprise as many individuals were able to achieve fame through their blogging. To say this was a radical departure from the traditional, established mean of gaining notoriety for writing and news presentation would be a major understatement. In the past, the only way to reach a large media audience was through the major cable television channels, newspapers, or magazines with high circulations. Blogging changed all that and now Google Friend Connect may take blogging to the next level.

Why is Google Friend Connect so potentially helpful to bloggers? Keep in mind merely launching a blog does not mean it will automatically draw a huge audience. The audience has to be built and sometimes that can take a lot of time. This is why a proactive method for building an audience is so critical. Google Friend Connect can aid in developing that audience.

Once Google Friend Connect starts to connect like-minded readers into the blog's social network, the network will start to take a life of its own. That is, the members of the blog network may become members of other Google Friend Connect networks. This will lead to traffic deriving from these other avenues. Also, there is nothing stopping the publisher of the blog proactively becoming a member of other Google Friend Connect networks. This will lead to even further traffic and popularity. Best of all, this method is much cheaper than taking part in a number of traditional search engine optimization methods.

Another huge benefit to using Google Friend Connect is that the increased popularity and traffic will greatly enhance the ability to monetize a blog. Most blogs rely on pay per click advertising and affiliate marketing. With more and more people actively investing time with the new found Google Friend Connect social networking applications on the blog, the ability to convert these visitors into ad revenue generating visitors will increase dramatically.

The bottom line is that blogs need an audience and some form of publicity in order to be successful. A Google Friend network can deliver on both of these goals. Provided, of course, it is teamed with a very motivated blogger.

7 Ideas For Increasing Your Internet Marketing Presence

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Bobette_Kyle]Bobette Kyle

Marketing online is a critical part of any marketing plan. Here are seven Internet-based marketing ideas you may not have thought about for your 2007 marketing plan:

Volunteer for Internet Interviews

Podcasts, Webcasts, blogs, RSS feeds and newsletters (ezines) are all venues for online interviews or discussions. You'll want to approach publishers who regularly conduct interviews with guests of your caliber, so finding opportunities will take some research. Do this by searching general search engines (such as google.com) or directories. Some directories to get you started: podcast.net (podcasts), ezinehub.com (ezines), syndic8.com (RSS feeds/blogs)

Approach Bloggers Interested in Your Type of Product

Send your product to bloggers as a gift. You are doing this to expose your product to influencers in your category by giving them an opportunity to try it free (not to bribe or beg them to mention the product). If the bloggers like it, they may give it a mention in their blogs. Note that this is a subtle Internet marketing technique. Choosing to mention (or not mention) your product should be solely up to them.

You can find and read blogs by searching blogging directories such as technorati.com.

Join One or More Online Networks

Online social networks allow you to set up a profile page and interact with others who have your same professional (or personal) interests. Each network has different features and may appeal to a different kind of user. As with all Internet marketing techniques, there are dos and don'ts, so you'll want to read some of the profiles and learn a particular site's rules before aggressively working the network. Some networks to explore: linkedin.com, ryze.com, myspace.com, orkut.com, friendster.com

Send Out One or More Press Releases

First and foremost, the release must be something newsworthy to the media (if you need ideas, read the article here: http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/pr/NewsAngle.htm). Also, be sure to include a link to your Website or blog in the press release. Finally, distribute the release through an online press release service such as PRWeb.com.

Survey Your Website Visitors

Surveys can help you identify opportunities for improvement. Since online attention spans are very short, try asking a single two-part question such as Fred Reichhold's Ultimate Question: "On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to recommend __________." Fill in the blank with your Website name (or other relevant product). To those who reply with a 6 or lower, ask why they are not more likely to recommend. You should see a pattern in the comments. These will lead to ways of improving your site. There are software packages to help you set up an online survey. Also, surveymonkey.com is a popular Web interface for producing online surveys.

Convey Patrick Hanlon's 7 Primal Branding Pieces Online

According to Hanlon, the seven "Primal Branding" pieces -- a creation story, creed, icons, rituals, sacred words, nonbelievers and leaders -- form belief systems that inherently attract people who want to believe in a product. Those people form the communities that surround successful products and services. Conveying as many of these as you can online can help build followers online.

Study Your 5 Closest Competitors' Websites and Online Marketing Activities

By studying the competition you will not only gain a better understanding of trends in your industry, but also gain new insights into promotional strategies for your own business. As you research, brainstorm a list of ideas and use that list to plan a new online strategy or technique for your own business.

There you have it -- seven ideas for improving your Internet marketing presence. Integrate one or more into your 2007 marketing plan and you'll be on your way to greater success.

Why Do Blogs Fail?

Why Do Blogs Fail?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Partha_Bhattacharya]Partha Bhattacharya

Taking off from a previous article where I wrote why it is necessary to start a blog, here are some pointers as to how over time blogs tend to dilute the central theme, which after all is writing contents.

Not long back, the idea of blogging caught everyone's fancy. Akin to wildfire-like spread of various types of social media sites - Digg, Orkut, MySpace, YouTube, et al - blogging also became popular in no time. People I know, who are otherwise gainfully occupied elsewhere and have seldom scribbled anything meaningful for a long time, suddenly felt a dire need of expressing themselves through blogs.

That is where lies the attractiveness of blogs. Connecting with others whom probably you may not know. Several tools and applications like MyBlogLog, FeedBurner, FeedBlitz, etc. have made the blogs even more endearing. And terms such as rss, permalink, trackback have become familiar in no time.

What however turned out to be the most effective spade to shove the concept of blogging is the ease of starting one. The other plus is that in most cases it's free to debut and carry on blogging. With Blogger, Wordpress and a host of others, starting a blog is child's play. Blogger's slogan, 'Push-Button Publishing' says it all lucidly.

If you keep in touch with Google Groups' Blogger Help Group, you'd know how the blogging fraternity is rapidly expanding allover. That surely is an indication of people's growing urge to 'publish' their thoughts and actions on the Internet, and in the process be heard and commented upon by others.

However, it's not long when the initial euphoria of blogging slowly starts ebbing, and then starts the pain of maintaining blog. In most cases, this aspect alone is what separates the wheat from the chaff. Since the bottomline of a successful blog is what else but solid contents, many promising startups that lack this virtue end up like an art unfinished.

Why do most blogs perish just after birth? 2 reasons come to mind. One is that for most startup bloogers, blogging is just an infatuation toward being 'seen' on Internet. Doesn't matter a new blog is only a speck of dust in thin air. Since infatuation and seriousness are poles apart from one another, a newbie's blog, if not pursued with vigor, hurtles toward oblivion in no time.

The second reason is more to do with perceived necessity than ability or wherewithal to support new efforts. I'm inclined to include website owners in this category who are already waist-deep in this.

The ease of starting a blog and availability of touchup tools to make it ornamental are juicy enough for many webmasters to start as many blogs as thought necessary. Only later does it dawn that carrying along those many blogs is a big drag on resources.

This brings me to the point I often like to put my bets on. It's that no website or blog can hope to succeed without contents. We've heard so many times that search engines put premium on quality contents and interlinking among them. If this is true for non-blog websites, there's no reason why it shouldn't be for blogs as well.

But, say we put aside search engines' requirements for a moment. What about flesh-n-blood visitors? Would they like a blog if it smells of staleness? When that happens, it signals the end of yet another valiant attempt at blogging. You get the point, don't you?

Partha Bhattacharya owns and runs [http://www.words2content.com/]Words2Content blog that focuses on writing, blogging and optimizing web contents. He also runs [http://www.mahanagar.net/kolkata-musing]Kolkata Musing, a blog on the city of Kolkata in India where he lives.

Creating Widgets For Placement On Your Websites and Blogs

blidget,
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Doran_Roggio]Doran Roggio

With a widget you can place the current information from your blogs and or/websites on other webpages, and your personal pages on social networks like myspace, ning.com and your private clubs. This is not only fun and informative, but an excellent promotional tool.

What is a widget? According to Wikipedia a "web widget is anything that can be embedded within a page of HTML, i.e. a web page. A widget adds some content to that page that is not static. Generally widgets are third party originated... Widgets are also known as modules, snippets, and plug-ins. Widgets can be written in HTML, but also in JavaScript, flash and other scripting languages...

Applications can be integrated within a third party website by the placement of a small snippet of code. This is becoming a distribution or marketing channel for many companies. The code brings in 'live' content - advertisements, links, images - from a third party site without the web site owner having to update."

You have probably seen widgets on web sites you have visited. When clicked on the widget will take you to the source of the information. Although widgets have been around since the late nineties, they are becoming increasing more popular especially with the rise of social networking.

I first started playing around with widgets as a way to promote my own AC published content. While widgets are not that difficult, they can be a little tricky at first if unfamiliar to you. It took me several tries to perfect my own widgets and place them on my blog and social networking sites. They now work perfectly without any problems. As I add content to my AC page for example, the widget automatically updates to show the most current article titles.

If you have not had the opportunity to work with widgets or have attempted to do so without success this article is for you. With little effort you will be able to make the widgets and place them on the web pages that you choose. Once mastered the widgets are really cool and worth the effort.

Making A Widget

At widgetbox.com you can make a widget to place on your pages. You can customize the widget with size, details, title and colors and even list it in their blidget directory which gives more exposure to your blog and AC page (every little bit of promotion helps). You can make as many widgets as you want, I have one for my blog at Women-sense.com and another for my AC content producer page so far.

Go to http://widgetbox.com, on the left sidebar click on the button that says 'Make a blidget'. This will open up a box that asks for the url where the information is being gathered. For my blog I just entered the blog url, (http://women-sense.com). Widgetbox.com automatically draws from the rss feed for that URL. Don't ask me how, I have no idea but it works. For my Associated Content I added the actual RSS link which I found by clicking on the RSS symbol and copying the url address from the browser address bar.

Once you add the link to the blidget box it will open to a page that will give you customizing options. You will see your widget on the right hand side with your information from the RSS feed. You can opt to list article titles or titles with article summaries. Different colors as well as sizing and/or images are other options available. Fool with the options until you get it the way you want it to look.

When you finish setting the options and you are happy with the way it looks, click on one of the article titles to assure it is working correctly. When clicked it should click thru to the site your are promoting.

Registering and Getting The Code

If working correctly the next step is to get the code. Now you will need the code in order to place the widget your myspace page or other website of your choice.

Before getting the code the next step in the creation of your widget offers you the chance to list your widget in the blidget gallery. I opted for this and you will probably want to do so as well. It can only add to your exposure. Add keyword tags and click 'publish blidget'.

Now you will then be asked to register if you do not already have an account. Don't worry, the service is absolutely free. By registering you will be able to come back and make as many widgets as you want and add them to your account for editing.

Once you have registered you will now be taken to a another page with several options. Near the top you will see the title of the widget (example: AC Media) on the far right of the title click the green button that says 'get widget'.

Placing The Widget On Websites

A drop down list opens up for you to choose where to place the widget. You will see there are many choices. If you are placing your widget on myspace, for example, choose that selection. You will be asked for your myspace email and password, along with what section you want the widget to be placed. Widgetbox.com will automatically place the widget on your myspace page in the section you desire.

Perhaps you want to place the widget on a site that is not listed. In this case you would choose the section that says, 'get code'. There will be two choices to choose from, a Javascript and a Flash script. At this point you may have to experiment to see which code will work on the site you are attempting to place the widget.

Many sites do not allow Javascript. If you are working on your own webpages you can probably use the Javascript code. Copy and paste the code in your websites html, save and upload your page as usual. The widget should work fine.

For other sites like http://ning.com you want the flash script. Select all and copy the code for the flash script. Paste the code into a block where you are able to add information by clicking on edit/add in the box and paste the code. You are almost done. Before saving you will need to add opening and closing div tags to the code in order for it to show up.

Click save and close the opened text box and your widget should be displayed. If correctly done your widget will automatically update every time you add new content to the site your widget is promoting.

Twitter Traffic Tips - 3 Free Tips For Getting Maximum Value Out of Twitter

,By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Fabian_Tan]Fabian Tan

In simple terms, Twitter can be considered a platform for micro blogging. Though many had considered it ineffective for business until recently, Twitter traffic has suddenly caught the attention of internet marketers.

1. A sophisticated and intelligent platform

The twitter community is different from other forums because of their superior intelligence and sophistication. Therefore, you have to have a different approach to benefit from Twitter traffic because the community does not encourage those who use it exclusively for commercial reasons. Bloggers in particular can benefit immensely from Twitter because it facilitates connection with super bloggers.

2. Growth through value

The best of Twitter users add value to the Twitter community. These users constantly engage in sharing information with peers or add to ongoing conversations within the community. To be successful, it is essential that you build trust. Twitter works as an ideal forum for building relationships and those keen on this will find it really engaging. Those engaged in blogging can identify others from the same niche to exchange views or share notes. When it comes to building relationships, the twitter platform stands among the best. No wonder therefore, that Twitter traffic comes with a quality attached.

3. Building trust

There are several ways to build trust on Twitter. You can twitter articles and blog posts from others for a beginning. You can also seek reactions from the community on your blog posts. Once you succeed in building trust, the next step would be sharing your blog posts for twitter traffic.

Using Twitter the right way is a matter of being 'social' in your communications. Don't plunder the website and use it as a pure promotional source. You will turn a lot of people off and they can stop following you. But use it the right way and it can be a goldmine for your business.

How to Get Started With Video Blogging

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Panah_C_Rad]Panah C Rad

Text-blogging is a thing of past these days. Folks have been blogging in audio and video for many months now. Video-blogs are often more engaging, and they allow bloggers to use video channels to promote themselves and their posts.

Everyone should get started with video-blogging now. However, there are many challenges involved with starting a video-blog.

A lot of folks don't feel comfortable presenting in front a crowd or a video camera. The thought of being seen by the millions around the world turns a lot of folks off. Video-blogging should really be seen as an opportunity to connect with others rather than some scary affair. Presenting and talking in front of a video camera is much less daunting, and the presentation process is much less formal than a business presentation. Besides, in most cases, the blogger will be the producer, the speaker, and the director and will have total control over the process.

Hosting videos can be a challenge as well. Videos consume significant bandwidth, so you want to make sure that you have the bandwidth and financial strength to pay the bills for your videos. Many new vloggers use video networking sites such as YouTube to host their videos. That way you can save a lot of money on your hosting costs., and in essence you will never have to worry about dealing with the more technical challenges.

Learning from the best is the easiest way to get started with vlogging. Many top bloggers put videos on their blogs as well. By watching those videos you can get a firm idea on how to set up the background for your own video and how to communicate things to connect with folks more effectively.

Video-blogging doesn't have to be complicated. The biggest challenge involved with it is the speaking part of it. Most folks aren't comfortable talking in front of a camera. As a blogger you should use that to your advantage. If it's easy, everyone will be doing it. And the fact that a lot of folks don't find vlogging easy should encourage you to get started sooner rather than later. By watching what the best of the best are doing with their own videos, you can pick up invaluable tips and use them to improve the overall quality of your own videos.

Blogging, Vlogging, YouTube And MySpace

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tony_Rose]Tony Rose

If you’re reading this, you already know that I’ve been blogging. I also recently started vlogging. If you haven’t already asked why, I’ll tell you. I felt that I have a lot to say and needed an outlet. No, not just some sort of random rant, but a means of sharing with others my views and opinions. And yes, I do seem to have quite a few! I also wanted to share with others more information about the business I conduct.

Of course I try to focus most of my communications on business related topics, however, I will on occasion take a tangent on life and other observations. I think this article would be categorized as a tangent. The point is I believe that I can provide a lot of good insight into business as well as some good general life guidance. Now don’t think that I think I’m all knowing and that I’m perfect or infallible, etc. It’s just that sometimes I notice things. Take it for what you will

Now both the blog and the vlog are relatively new to me so I’ve been experimenting with various formats and styles. I’m always open to suggestion, so if you have an opinion, please share. With the lengthy lead-in taken care of, I’d like to open the floor for a question I had as I’ve been spending a good deal of time online in the various forums.

I believe the idea or intent for websites such as YouTube and MySpace are to help people get connected. But is that really what’s happening? Those of us who have spent some time at these social sites have viewed quite a few videos, read some blogs and looked at some photos. You can even “add friends” and create a network of people. There’s also quite of bit of random content purely intended for entertainment and even more content with a focus on generating sales. (I’m certainly a bit guilty of that myself.)

So, I ask you these questions: Are these sites helping us get closer to people and/or expanding our knowledge base? Or is it another way to distance us from others while only maintaining superficial relationships? I don’t know if there’s a clear answer and maybe it’s a little of both. If you have an opinion or insight, I’d like to hear what you have to say.

Looking forward to forging long and meaningful relationships. You can find me at http://roseusa.com.

Blog Your Way to MLM Profits

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Francine_Pullman]Francine Pullman

Blogging for profit is nothing new, - some bloggers even make a living off their reader's pay-per-clicking but the way that a person monetizes their blogging matters a great deal. Pay-per-posting is entirely different, because it basically institutionalizes the practice of paying for press coverage. Blogging for MLM or affiliate profit is a goal for many people. It is achievable for someone willing to work at it and with a knowledge of blogging. Blogging For Profit can also be closely tied with building a list of MLM prospect leads. For many it offers a way to develop multiple sources of income.

Blogging for profit is a goal within reach of anyone with average intelligence, a willingness to work hard, and a basic grasp of blogging technology. However, very few people manage to reap the rewards they seek from their blog. Why is that?

Mainly, two reasons: it's more difficult than you might think but even more so, it can be hard to keep the laser focus needed for the job. I won't go as far as to say it's hard to draw a secondary income from blogging, but it's definitely harder than most people think. Consider it to be like posting a diary with daily updates, only each update needs to be structure right to draw traffic - after all why post if no one is going to read it?

If that does not deter you, great but do understand that blogging for profit is a great way to make money, except that it can take a long time to build up. Just like with any other business, you need to be patient at the start.

Micro blogging is a related field that is fast becoming popular. There are lots of networks for this, Twitter would have to be the most popular one followed by Friendfeed, Tumblr, Pownce and Jaiku.

If you plan to go down this road, just remember the power of focus in terms of getting results. Sometimes it can be difficult to manage all these networks, so you must diarise your own blogging to ensure you do not waste time and effort.

Of course, that's where micro blogging has it all over the original format.
With tiny little updates, micro blogging is about being able to touch the lives and thoughts of so many.

If you are micro blogging for profit, it is about being able to offer others great insight to your life and also to add value. Perhaps you could link to other blogs or articles you have posted.

Micro blogging is a short form of spontaneous communication, rather like a cross between instant messaging and blogging. Twitter is my favorite but it limits you to 140 characters per post. Yammer has no limits. Micro blogging is nice, easy and one of the greatest ways to share new things and start conversations. Twittering, for example, is a great way to build on your business by adding content to the web and by branding yourself.

Corporate Blogging - Pitfalls And Guidelines

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christine_Anderssen]Christine Anderssen

It is widely recognized that blogging is one way to easily add new content to a website, and a number of corporates are embracing the idea with gusto. Not only are there companies that do corporate blogging, but in lots of cases it is not just the CEO or the marketing manager who blogs, but the actual employees of the company itself. Google and Microsoft are just two companies that allow and/or support their employees in their blogging. But the whole idea is fraught with pitfalls. The problem is the conflict between confidentiality and openness and quite a number of blogging employees have been fired recently for inappropriate blogging behavior.

Questions that are raised and that contribute to the problems around corporate blogging are some of the following:

How much should employees be allowed to say about the internal workings of the company? Certainly, Coke-Cola will not be pleased if an employee blurts out the formula for Coke on the company blog for the whole world to see.

Likewise, should employees be allowed to criticize the company or their direct management? Some companies allow this, some do not. Another question that must be asked is how much time employees should be allowed to spend on blogging. Is this seen as part of their job descriptions, should it form part of their formal job output models?

It is clear that companies that venture into the corporate blogging arena would be wise to follow some other large corporate's examples and draw up blogging guidelines. These blogging guidelines should state clearly the boundaries within which the employee should operate, but it should not be so strict as to stifle any creativity or place a complete ban on the activity, nor make it so cumbersome to get permission to say something that it becomes virtually impossible to keep a personal feel to the blog and it merely becomes another official corporate mouthpiece.

Corporate blogging is a great way to add content to a corporate website, to attract new customers, to publish more content regarding company products, services and events and in general to add a more human feel to a company website - but some guidelines are necessary to protect both the company and the employee respectively from blogging themselves into bankruptcy or unemployment!

The following guidelines have been taken from various corporate blogging rules that are published - they might be a good starting point for any company thinking of allowing its employees to blog:

Do not criticize other products or competitors.

Make it clear that you are stating your own opinion, and not necessarily that of the company.

If in doubt, discuss it with a colleague or your manager

Do not share company secrets (e.g. secret processes or formulas, or things such as potential mergers, takeovers, or anything that can be seen as confidential information)

Do not blatantly use the blog as a platform for overtly selling the company products. The blog is not the right place for that. Be informative and authentic.

Do not cite customers or partners without their approval

And quite important - do not venture personal opinions on politics, race or religious issues - respect your reader.

Top 10 Reasons to Start a Business Blog

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Brandon_Cornett]Brandon Cornett

Are you a business owner trying to figure out the whole blogging thing? Have you been wondering if it's worth your time and effort to create a blog for your own business? By the end of this article, you'll understand the many benefits and will be better able to decide if blogging is right for you.

Let's start with a quick definition, just so we are all on the same page. A blog is simply a content-management system that allows you to publish information onto the Internet, quickly and easily. New information is typically added in reverse-chronological format, so that the most recent posts are always up top. The blogging program does most of the technical stuff for you.

10 Reasons to Start Blogging for Your Business

That's about as far as I'll go into the technical definition. You'll learn more about the inner workings if and when you decide to start a blog for your business. This purpose of this article is to give you some good reasons to make that decision. So without further ado...

1. Easy Publishing Tool

Type your post for the day. Add some hyperlinks or images with the click of your mouse. Hit the "publish" button. You've just updated your blog with new information, and it's live on the Internet. Once you install the program, it really is this easy to use.

2. Search Engine Visibility

Starting a blog will not magically propel you to the top of the search engine ranks, as many people seem to believe. But with that being said, a blog has certain benefits that help with search rankings. It's easy to publish new content for one thing, and this is key to online visibility. Also, blogs are text-rich and cleanly coded right "out of the box," so the search engines have an easy time crawling through them and finding new information.

3. Expertise / Authority

If you as the business owner can demonstrate your expertise within your industry, people will be more inclined to purchase your products or services. By publishing quality information on a regular basis, you can more easily establish such authority. In other words, you can use blogging to position yourself as a "thought leader" in your industry.

4. Makes Your Website Sticky

Who wants to revisit a website that never updates its content? Not me. This is another area where a business blog can benefit you. If you have a wealth of useful content on your website, and that content gets updated regularly, your visitors will stick around longer. This increases the chance they will contact you, purchase from you, subscribe to your newsletter, etc.

5. Potential for Conversation

Most blogging programs come with a comment feature built in. At the bottom of each post, readers can leave comments in a box provided for that purpose. So instead of the one-way communication of a traditional website (where I talk and you listen), you now have a two-way conversation taking place. You can probably see the business-building potential of this.

6. Potential for Leads

Can you generate leads and inquiries through a blog? Sure you can. We just talked about the two-way conversations that often takes place. When people fill out that comment form, they usually include their email address. There's a lead source right there. People will also feel like they know you after reading your blog for a while, so they'll be more inclined to contact you directly.

7. Return Visits

Blogging programs make it easy for people to stay in touch. For example, your visitors / readers can simply subscribe to your blog's syndication feed to receive future updates automatically. There are also programs available that can convert your posts into an email newsletter format. That way, people can sign up to receive future posts just like signing up for any other e-newsletter. It's a handy tool that can keep people coming back over and over again.

8. Versatility / Multipurpose

I already mentioned how you can use a certain type of "plugin" to allow readers to subscribe. In reality, there is a mind-boggling array of plugins available that can do all sorts of neat things. How you use your business blog is limited only by your imagination. Use it as a news add-on to your existing website, or use it as a full-featured website with pages in addition to posts.

9. Encourages Trust

Let's face it. Consumers naturally distrust unfamiliar companies. And who can blame them? People hear the word "corporate" and think of Enron-like characters plotting schemes that screw the little guy while lining their own pockets. It's a harsh reality, but a reality nonetheless.

How does a blog fit into this? Well, it makes you seem like a person instead of a company, for one thing. It shows you're not afraid to step into the spotlight and speak with people about your business and your products. This is one of the reasons people like Bill Marriott (of the hotel chain) have started blogs in recent years.

10. Dare I Say Fun?

Do you enjoy sharing information about topics you know well? Do you like to write? Are you interested in web technologies and seeing your words published live on the Internet? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, there's a good chance you will truly enjoy blogging. Who knows... you may even become addicted.

Blogs and Business Bookmarking - How to Achieve Online Coverage Easily

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Vanessa_A._Doctor]Vanessa A. Doctor

Setting up a website with a good online coverage is a must for any business on the Internet. It is important for a good business to make sure that Internet Marketing strategies are implemented to ensure a good coverage on the World Wide Web to guarantee profit with the millions of potential customers on the Net.

One common, and easy, strategy to use for achieving this goal is business bookmarking. We are all familiar with the concept of bookmarking -- saving the sites we find useful on our browsers for easy access later on when there's a need to visit the page again. The same concept also applies with business bookmarking.

In this Internet marketing strategy, an individual will create a profile in many of the social bookmarking sites on the Web and bookmark his or her own site directly to their list. Since your bookmarked sites can be accessed by anyone in your contact list or network, a business website can easily get online traffic when your contacts add them on their own list.

Another concept of business bookmarking is to increase your page rank to achieve online dominance and higher placement in search engine results. Since page rank is determined by the number of links you have on the Web that points back to your page, the number of people who bookmark your site will steadily add to its value.

Why Blogs?

A lot of business bookmarkers have made use of blogs to make use of this Internet marketing strategy. The zero-cost service and easy site creations make it ideal for any business setting on the Web.

Business bookmarking and blog is a good combination. The services offered by blog sites make it compatible with the Internet marketing strategy. For starters, some business bookmarking services offers a tool that will allow your visitor to automatically bookmark the page into their own site with just a click of the mouse button. Implementation of this tool is easy since almost all blogs incorporate bookmarking features.

Getting Started

If you want to try this strategy out to improve your online coverage, then you better start with your blog first. Apply designs and layout that perfectly matches with your content, as well as updating it with useful and informative posts to appeal to the interest of your visitors. Once done, checking out bookmarking sites is the next step.

Look for such online services that offer tools and kits conducive to an online business setting. It is advisable to subscribe to a few business bookmarking sites and give it a try for a first-hand experience before making use of it to achieve a good online coverage and accessibility. http://conbuzz.com/ -- Business Bookmarking - Conbuzz

Promoting Your Business With Blogs - The Art of Business Blogs

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Terra_Andersen]Terra Andersen

Blogs are the news and educational outlets of the future. They have pushed themselves up as a leading presence on the internet. For those who once wanted to create a website, but perhaps they had no interesting content. The blog has made it possible to earn some massive traffic for even the smallest of websites. If a person blogs daily on a blog website their site will become over 365 pages large! (each blog post becomes it's own page....well, with blogging programs like blogger and wordpress). With all that content and a niche, traffic is sure to come. Well, not exactly.

The whole "build it and they will come" philosophy does NOT apply to the internet any longer. Perhaps at the internet's conception, and during the following 2 years, this may have been true. Now, even the largest and best blogs may be elusive if not advertised or networked by some means. It would be nice to toss up a nice website with targeted content, and watch the traffic flow in. If this were the case, there would be MANY more rich bloggers out there. Blogging has also become the best way to learn the latest and most important news in any industry. Now, I read about current events and funny stories sometimes days before they appear on the news or radio. Blogs are a bigger power-house than most even realize.

If you are thinking of starting a blog, make sure it has a niche, or a targeted audience. You could start a gardening blog, a marriage blog, a business blog, an internet business blog, a marketing blog, a web design blog, a graphic design blog, and even a super hero ninja-clown blog. You'd be extremely surprised at how many people are creating blogs these days...and even more surprised at WHAT people are creating blogs about. Reading blogs regularly is not only a great way to gauge your audience in your target industry, but also a great way to keep up with the latest techniques and trends in whatever it is that you are interested in. In reality, blogs really are the newest media form... and with sites like Digg, Twitter, Reddit, and stumble upon, your blog is sure to get noticed by someone!

So how does one slip some shameless self promotion into your own blog, or better yet...even others blogs? If you are writing a targeted blog, in YOUR industry, this shouldn't be too hard. Say you are a martial arts teacher. You start a martial arts blog, and promote it. List your business and your expertise in the blog every now and again. As others in the industry find your blog, they'll link to it from their site if they enjoy your content. This is the art of basic blog promotion. There are also a ton of feed websites to submit your blog to, such as Technorati, and a few other biggies that you must submit to to start monitoring traffic, incoming links, and so on.

Another obvious key to business blog promotion is to network yourself and your blog. Many bloggers believe that it is considerate to leave comments on blogs to show appreciation, and to add to the community experience. Commenting also leaves behind your blog's link, so others can find you through more popular blogs within your industry. Making friends in the blog world is a great way to get your blog and your name out there. It's also a great way to generate regular readers of your blog.

I strongly suggest that if you already have a business and a business website, to add a blog to it as soon as possible. Whether it is an industry news blog, or just a blog about the news and current events within your own company. It's a great way to add more content (words) to your site that are like food to the search engines. Industry experts have also said that adding a blog to your company's site is a way to better connect with your consumer, since they can comment and address issues they have with pretty much anything. Many consumers see it as a better way to access an authority figure within the company as well. Large companies that utilizing blogging include Toyota, Google, HP, and many more.

When it comes down to it, blogging can be a great tool to promote your business if used correctly. Remember, the blogging world is immense, so if you are ready to sit down and start a blog, make sure to design a strategy of how to market that blog. Submit it, Submit it, and Network! Don't be shy when it comes to commenting. If you enjoyed another's blog, make sure to comment and let them know! bloggers enjoy feedback, and it usually elicits friendships and new readership.

Business Blogs - 7 Tips to Promote an Existing Business

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ted_Demopoulos]Ted Demopoulos

The primary purpose of most business blogs is supporting an existing business. Here are 7 blogging tips to help promote your business.

1) Don't blog exclusively on your products and company. Instead occasionally weave them in to your discussions. If your blog resembles an ongoing advertisement, few people are going to be interested.

There are certainly exceptions though. For example if you work for Microsoft and you're blogging on Windows, then obviously you will be blogging on your products all the time, but if you sound like an advertisement you will never gain credibility or many readers.

2) Consider advertising your products and services in your blog's sidebar. This often makes far more sense than third party advertisements.

For example in my blog, instead of having arbitrary advertisements in prime blog locations, I highlight my books, other information products, and my services.

3) Position yourself, and your company by extension, as an expert in your field.

How do you do this? Quite simply by providing insight and opinions on issues of interest to your marketplace, to your readers and your potential readers.

You can certainly build your expertise as you blog and you will earn trust and readers, just like other media have.

4) Put other employees and partners on display. You can interview other passionate people who may or may not blog but whose thoughts and insights are relevant to your blog's focus.

It's easy to do: simply ask someone if they are interested and then send them a short list of questions via email, or you could talk to them over the phone. I have had quite a few interviews in my blog lately and they have worked out really well. There has been a lot of interest in them, they have added value, and they're an easy way to generate content.

5) Answer all contacts, whether by email or comments or however, promptly and professionally. More people contact you when you blog as you seem more approachable and people feel much more comfortable contacting you. If you respond appropriately, you will have more potential customers and partners not to mention friends.

6) You can review and recommend complementary products and services to your customers. Customers and potential customers often see this as an enormous value add and it helps build loyalty.

I am happy to review and recommend any products my readers may benefit from. For example, recently I've recommended blogging software, hosting services, and an ecommerce-shopping cart. There has been a lot of reader interest in all of my recommendations.

7) Read your competitor's, partner's, and any industry blogs. Pay particular attention to any comments.

Remember your competitors may become partners sometimes. You probably don't offer exactly what they do, but many of the same people and types of people may be reading their blogs and commenting and they are all potentially your customers too. And remember that your competitors are probably reading any blogs you have as well. That's not a bad thing, but remember that confidential information is exactly that and shouldn't be revealed on blogs or blabbed about loudly at the pub near work either.

What's the most important thing for a business blog that's designed to support an existing business or a venture? Quite simply, blogging well. Blog well and consider these 7 tips above and you're well on your way to a successful business blog.

How Executives Are Using Business Blogs For Communication and Marketing

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christine_Harrell]Christine Harrell

Small businesses have found the internet to be a valuable and cost effective method to communicate with a wide audience. From email to websites, there are countless ways to get your message out. One of the most popular methods today is the business blog.

Blogs As Communication Tools

A business blog can be designed for a manager or the CEO to inform employees about developments within the company. This open management style improves employee morale because the staff feels better informed about what is going on in the organization. If executives discuss matters only behind closed doors it makes workers feel disconnected, like unimportant cogs in the machine.

Other business blogs are aimed at clients or contractors. News about company developments, progress of current projects, or announcements of new projects are just a few of the entries that might be found. It's an easily accessible resource that allows interested parties to keep up to date on the organization.

The appeal of business blogs is that they create a team-oriented dialog. A website is one way - people come and receive information but have no direct way to talk back. Email creates a dialog but only between two people unless you send CCs to every person who might possibly be interested. As people comment on blog entries, the group can follow and participate in the discussion freely.

Blogs As Marketing Opportunities

Blogs are also a powerful tool for business growth. A company can demonstrate expertise with a subject to an audience they might not be able to reach otherwise. A software training company might offer Windows usability tips while a travel agency could provide advice on travel in Europe as well as announcing their latest package deals.

The power of a business blog is its global reach. An auto repair shop might not care about reaching customers in Belgium but a franchisor could find an untapped supply of customers who find the blog while looking for new business ideas. Organizations are only recently beginning to appreciate the promotional potential of the internet as a social network.

No Computer Expertise Needed

Probably the single greatest reason for the explosion in the number of business blogs is the ease of use. No longer does a business have to understand esoteric programming languages or hire expensive consultants to have a web presence. An entrepreneur blog can be up and running in a matter of minutes with the click of a button.

The business blog can be updated as desired with no more skill than the ability to use a keyboard. The blogger types the new entry, clicks "Post" and the update goes live immediately. Blogs can be updated as often as desired, some adding several new posts per day while others might update once a week or less. Bloggers often find they enjoy the outlet and the ability to reach an appreciative audience, and the business certainly appreciates the growth.

9 Tips to Increase Your Technorati Rank Quickly

9 Tips to Increase Your Technorati Rank Quickly
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Donald_Lawson]Donald Lawson

For some people, their blogs Technorati rank is confusing and they do not fully understand it. Even more confusing for many bloggers is how to increase your Technorati rank and increase it rather quickly.

So let me start by telling you what the Technorati rank is.

The Technorati rank is how many other blogs in Technorati actually link back to your blog. Not how many blogs link back to you, but how many blogs Technorati knows about that link back to yours.

It's important to understand that a blog has to be claimed by its owner on Technorati. To claim it, all you do is open a free account with Technorati and follow directions on how to claim your blog.

Why Your Technorati Rank Is Important

Many bloggers and Webmasters do not understand why a blogs Technorati ranking is important. If you don't care about selling ads or links on your blog, then the Technorati rank is probably worthless to you. On the other hand, a low Technorati rank (low means good here) can increase the amount you're paid for links or sponsored reviews.

Now to the good stuff. Here's some ideas on how to increase your Technorati rank.

First thing is to put one of those Technorati badges on your blog. This makes it easier for people to "Fav" your blog, which gives you a point.

Simply asking others to "Fav" your blog on Technorati works wonders.

If you have other blogs, claim those under your account and link to your main blog.

Although considered a no-no by many, Digital Point's buy and sell forum has many offers of people willing to sell you a link. It's not hard to find people with hundreds of blogs willing to post an article on their network with a link back to your site.

The truly White Hat way to increase your Technorati ranking is to write unique and compelling content. Great content will generate links by itself.

I've had marginal success at commenting on do-follow blogs. The link you get back will count toward your rank if the blog your commenting on is claimed.

Linking out to post on other blogs can help you if the track back is a do-follow.

"Fav"'ing other Technorati users post. This brings your blog to the attention of other Technorati users. In turn, many will visit your blog and link back. This can be an effective strategy if you have time to visit a lot of Technorati users.

Run a Contest or give something away. Everyone loves to link to a great online contest or a blog that is giving away cool stuff. Just make sure you ask your readers to link back to you. You might even give them extra "entries" into the contest for writing a post on their blog about your contest. This can increase your rank tremendously in a short time period.

These may sound like simple steps to take, but you'll be surprised at how many bloggers fail to take advantage of a low Technorati rank. Like I said earlier, if you're not into selling links or ad space, then you shouldn't lose sleep over your Technorati rank. Sometimes it's a fun challenge just to go out and see how high you can get your rank. Now you know how to increase your Technorati rank quickly and easily.

Adding Traffic To Your Blog using Technorati - Part 2

Adding Traffic To Your Blog using Technorati - Part 2
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Nick_Dalton]Nick Dalton

Mark Your Posts

Technorati classifies its blog postings by assigning tags to each one. For instance, all posts related to the keyword phrase 'attention' can be viewed at technorati.com/tags/attention. Technorati has its own special language code for tagging posts. If you have WordPress, several plug-ins that create Technorati tags are available. However, you probably shouldn't display the tags right on your website, since it offers the reader a chance to become distracted and wander away from your site. Technorati's content comes from your RSS feed, so it's really only imperative that the tags are found there. Try AutoMeta for a quality WordPress plug-in.

If there is a two-word tag such as, 'attention age', one will not have to list all of the permutations. These posts will be listed by Technorati under 'attention age', 'attentionage', 'attention', and 'age', automatically.

In addition to any tags that you explicitly add to your pots, Technorati will also use the categories you post was associated with as tags.

Test Technorati.

You must alert Technorati once you have posted comments on a blog. To do this you have to ping Technorati, unless you are employing a service such as Ping-o-matic which does it for you. If you have to do it yourself, put rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping among the sites your blogging software contacts. When using WordPress, this is accomplished by entering the information into Options > Writing > Update Services.

Get information on Tag and Search Feeds

It is now clear that posting comments on other people's blogs is an excellent means to getting yourself known, but you also need to find the proper blogs on which to post your comments. Perform a search on a subject on which you have expert knowledge. In the area above the results, you will find an RSS icon that makes it possible to subscribe to your search's results. Add the website address to your preferred RSS reader, and you will be alerted whenever a new blog posting occurs on your subject. Then you can immediately go to that blog and post your comment.

WTF at Technorati

Technorati has an interesting feature they call WTF where bloggers explain why certain topics are hot right now. This is both a good way to find out what buzz worthy at the moment and a great opportunity for you to become the authority on a hot topic. Just write a good comment on a WTF topic that has no explanation yet and link to your blog.

Boost Your Ranking.

Technorati rates and ranks a blog based on how many blogs link to your blog. Thus, to be gain a better ranking, the following two important things need to be considered:

1.Having more than one link from a single blog to yours will not make much difference. You need to participate in guest posts and post comments on different blogs. Your link should be among the links within regular posts.

2. Only links created within the last 180 days are counted. You cannot rest on your laurels or your ranking will start to sink.

Net Ads Make Money Online

Why AdSense Isn't Performing Well on Your Blog
By TC Thorn

I'm fortunate enough to make a nice living from running Google AdSense on my blogs and websites, and I often get questions from folks who are trying to figure out why the program doesn't perform for them. How can you make dollars - even hundreds of dollars - a day instead of mere pennies?

In this article, I'm covering some of the most common reasons people have trouble making money from AdSense.

1. AdSense works best on niche consumer-oriented blogs

To those of us who have been making money online for a while, this seems obvious, but lots of new folks haven't had that ah ha realization yet.

If your blog is a journal of your life or serves mostly to entertain, it's not going to be a good candidate for AdSense (and - I'll be honest here - it's probably not going to make much from other programs either).

The best performers are blogs that are focused on a specific niche. Even more, that niche should have lots of products or services associated with it.

For example, a blog on home improvement (many of my sites are in the home and garden niche) can do well since there are all sorts of tools and products people buy when they're looking to remodel or otherwise improve their homes. There are also plenty of services related to this niche, everything from roofing companies to pool maintenance outfits. All of those companies that offer products or services in that niche will want to advertise on your blog, and they're willing to pay well for qualified clicks.

On the other hand, if your blog is unfocused or attracts people looking more for entertainment than information related to products and services, you'll find advertisers less likely to pay well (that's when you see those 1 and 2 cent clicks).

2. Ads must be placed prominently in order to attract attention

I noticed a gal on Twitter complaining that AdSense was making her something like 18 cents a day. I checked out her site, and lo and behold, her tiny 125x125 AdSense block was way over on the right side of her blog below the fold.

If you want to make money with AdSense, stick those ads where people will see them!

This means getting them as close to your content as possible (if you can wrap the ads right into the blog post, it's best) and keeping them above the fold (people shouldn't have to scroll down to see your ads).

Also, don't be afraid to use big ad blocks. Those large rectangles are the best performers - people can't miss them. If you want to make money from your blog, you can't be shy about placing those ads prominently.

3. Write about products or services that cost a lot

It's a foregone conclusion that you'll make more per click from a blog that reviews $500-$1000 backyard grills than one that reviews books or cds that cost $20. The profit margins are a lot higher on big ticket items, so advertisers can afford to bid more per click.

It's also helpful if the items you're writing about are easily purchased over the internet. Even though hot tubs cost thousands of dollars, they tend to be items that people try out first and buy locally. On the other hand, software packages that cost a few hundred dollars are logical choices for ordering online.

As you can see from this short list, the real secret to doing well with AdSense is to pick your niche - and start a blog - based on the potential for profit rather than adding AdSense to an existing blog and hoping it will make you rich.

If your existing blog isn't at all consumer oriented, but it has a lot of traffic, you can always use it to drive traffic to a new blog that does work well with the AdSense model. Don't give up - you can definitely make good money from AdSense (and other affiliate and advertising programs as well), if you're willing to build a site that will appeal to both visitors and advertisers.

Most Profitable Adsense Blog: What Does It Look Like?
By Christopher Kyalo

What does the most profitable Adsense blog look like? What can a blogger intending to take advantage of the Google Adsense program learn from such a blog?

The most profitable Adsense blog tends to have plenty of pages of useful content. The Adsense program feeds off content-hunger. It is widely believed that the availability of so much free information online has dramatically reduced the hunger for information. Actually the very opposite is true. The World Wide Web is to information what the radio was to pop music sales. The most profitable Adsense blog owners have long realized this fact.

Would you believe the fact that initially record companies resisted having their songs played on radio. That is until they realized that rather than quench people's thirst and demand, radio dramatically increased it. Folks would listen to a song on the radio and line up in music stores to purchase it. The most profitable Adsense blogs will tend to serve their content in such a way that they help to create even more hunger for information rather than quench it. They do this by providing such interesting information that visitors to the blog immediately desire to know even more.

This is one of the most important distinguishing factors about the most profitable Adsense blogs.

Make Money With Blogger
By Tracey A Edwards

Want to make some extra cash? Well with all the great free resources on the internet it is now even easier to do that and my favorite way is to make money with Blogger. Blogger is Google's free blogging platform and one of the easiest and simplest ways to get started. All you need to do is decide on a name and theme (what you are going to write about) and start posting. Now of course there are still some extra things that you need to do to make your blog profitable than just start writing so get comfortable while I fill you in on the best ways to earn some nice money from a free Blogger blog.

Before you set up your blog you need to spend a little bit of time thinking about what you are going to write about. The reason you should do this first is so that you can decide on the best name for your blog. Having keywords in your blog's title will give it a tiny boost in the search engines so choose wisely. Obviously it needs to be something that is tied in with the theme of your blog, so if you are going to write chocolate recipes then something like cookingwithchocolate.blogspot.com would be a good name. Oh and if you do decide to blog about chocolate then let me know because I'd love to try some of your recipes!

Now you can go ahead and start your blog. Head over to Blogger.com and follow the easy instructions to get started. Once you are done you can start by writing your first post.

Unsure what you should write about? Think about how you can offer your readers great value. My recipe example from before is great, or you can offer tips on how to make money online or even choosing the perfect lipstick for your skintone. Obviously you'll need to tie each post into the theme of the site so you can't just write about random topics and hope to gain a following. Pretty soon if you write everyday or at least a few times a week your blog will start showing up in search engines and people will begin to visit.

Now that you've got traffic you can put some money making features onto your blog. One of the easiest ways to earn some cash is to write reviews for products in your niche that you earn a commission on. Every third or fourth post make a review about a product that is helpful to someone in your niche. So going back to our chocolate example, perhaps you can recommend a great fondue set or chocolate moulds that your readers might like.

You can find lots of different items to promote where you earn a commission from places like Amazon, eBay or digital products on Clickbank. Pretty soon your free Blogger blog will be making some great money for you.

How to Build Your Money Blog
By Liam Smith
